XII. Jesus Dies on the Cross

"It is finished."  Jesus has breathed His Last breadth; Mary and St. John behold the salvation of the world with their eyes as their hearts are caught up in Divine Mercy.  The perfect sacrifice has been offered, and the world is saved.  But does it feel like victory?  In the top the red orb is the sun turned dark by an eclipse.  In this moment of Love's eternal triumph, everything looked wrong - everything looked like it was falling apart.  Mary and St. John knew better.  Their faith let them know what no one else could: that God's love had never been closer.  May we likewise believe that God's love conquers our sins and our deaths as long as we let Him.
