Thomas A. Novak, Jr., 82, of Garfield Heights. Beloved husband of Particia (nee Sciranko) for 57 years. Passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2018. Thomas is survived by his children, Timothy, Allison Nicholson (James), Scott (Sharon), and Dale (Holly); grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Matthew, Gavin and Olivia. He will be missed by his devoted dog Darcie. His hobbies included fishing, listening to Polka music, scratching lottery tickets and most of all bowling in which he accomplished a 300 game on March 24, 1997. Eleanor Delores Jarosz age 92, of Canton (formerly of Cleveland) passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 14th shortly after noon in the Aultman Compassionate Care Center. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late George and Marie (Ochocki) Vanek. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Thaddeus (Ted) Jarosz and her beloved daughter, Beverly. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Carol (Dr. Paul) Bartos of Canton, grandchildren: Dr. Sarah (Dr. Adam) Smith of East Thetford, VT, Dr. Emily (Hank) Moore of Goshen, IN, Dr. Patrick (Dr. Cristy Coughlin) of Portland, OR, and Christopher (Emily Walker) Bartos of Columbus, OH; great-grandchildren: Levi Paul Smith, Iris Adelaide Smith, Isaac Amasa Moore, and Stella Marie Moore. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 17th at 10:00 am in St. Therese Catholic Church in Garfield Hts., OH with Fr. John Schneider as celebrant. Joseph W. Putka, 83, a true Christian gentleman, died peacefully following the progression of Lewy Body Disease and is now resting at peace with his Lord. He is the son of the late Joseph and Anna Putka, and loving brother of the following deceased: Edward (Florence), Raymond (Jane), and Joan Putinski (Edward). He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gloria. Joe deeply loved his children Patricia (Frank) Ondrish, Steven (Wendy) Putka, Mary Beth (Tomás) Castañeda, and Dan (Juliane) Putka, and he was a loving Poppy to sixteen grandchildren: Nicolle, Heather Lee (Jon), Ryan, Joe, Paul (deceased), Rachel, Chad, Grace Ahlqvist (Jakob), Sam, Marie Teresa, Tomás, Luis, Alexa, Sarah, Ben, Emily, two great-grandchildren, Faith and Ember, numerous caring nieces, nephews, and special friends. Joe was a graduate of Holy Name High School. Upon graduation he served his nation in the Army, stationed first at Fort Monmouth where he met the love of his life, Gloria, and later in Korea. Following his military service, Joe worked his entire career for Western Electric/AT&T, earning numerous commendations for exemplary work as a project manager. Joe was a natural athlete and enjoyed the friendships he built as both player and coach. Joe served God in many ways, including years of devoted service at St. Therese Church and Garfield Heights Knights of Columbus #4130. He will be best known for the love and laughs he shared so abundantly with family and friends.
